FIRST CLASS CHIEFS SAGA: SUSWAM BEGS FOR OUT OF COURT SETTLEMENT

imagesCounsel to the Benue State Government, Chief Edward Ashiekaa, yesterday Friday pleaded for out of court settlement following the order of contempt of court slammed on the State Government over its disrespect of court order restraining her from going ahead with the appointment of First Class Chiefs.

Speaking at the State High Court 4 yesterday, Chief Ashiekaa explained to the court that was seeking out of court settlement as advised by his clients, the outgoing governor Gabriel Suswam, the Tiv traditional council and 6 others.

Suswam’s counsel further apologized  to the court, explaining that he was absent when the court issued an injunction restraining his client to stay action on their plans to appoint first class chiefs.

“I want to move a motion asking the court to give us sometime to seek out of court settlement”, Ashiekaa begged.

You will recall that Hon. Benjamin Adanyi, Minority Leader of the Benue State House of Assembly, had through his counsel, Prof. Tony Ijohor, SAN obtained an interlocutory order restraining the out going Governor, Gabriel Suswam and 8 others from installing new first class chiefs in the state.
