A serving police officer Cpl. Sani Salisu has been arrested by the police in Kano for allegedly raping a seven-year-old girl.
He allegedly raped the little girl inside a kiosk located at Mangoron Mahauta Brigade quarters, Kano.
This was disclosed in a statement by the police public relations officer in the state, ASP Magaji Majiya, on May 1, Friday, The Punch reports.
The statement reads: “The command wishes to inform the public that, in its effort to flush out the bad eggs from the force, it has arrested a serving member of the force, Cpl. Sani Salisu.
“He was arrested for luring and taking advantage of a seven-year-old girl inside a kiosk located at Mangoron Mahauta Brigade quarters, Kano.”
According to Magaji, the commissioner of police, Ibrahim Idris, had directed that the case be transferred immediately to the State Criminal Investigation Department for discreet investigation.
He added that the police will inform the public of any further developments in the case.
Child rape is becoming rampant in different parts of the country and people are worried that if nothing is done to stop the problem it will get out of hand.
